A Canadian nonprofit
Your family's band
is waiting
to be formed.
Join Band Together — where Canadian families learn, rehearse, and perform music for seniors and charities across their community.
What we are
Music, family, and community — woven into one thing
Band Together is a nonprofit built around a simple idea: families who make music together grow together. We bring parents, children, and even toddlers into multi-generational ensembles — then take that music into the places where it's needed most.
Senior homes. Community charities. The neighbours who can't get out anymore. When a family band walks through those doors, something shifts in the room. That moment is what Band Together exists to create — over and over, across Canada.
Learn
Every skill level welcome — first-time learners to parents dusting off an old instrument.
Rehearse
Your family becomes an ensemble. Regular sessions, real songs, a shared purpose.
Perform
Take the stage for audiences who need the joy most — pro bono, no audition required.
Music bridges every generation.
The research is clear. The joy is real.
Why Band Together exists
It started with a simple question: what if giving back was something the whole family did?
So many families want to volunteer, to contribute, to do something that matters — but it's hard to bring a seven-year-old to a food bank, or a toddler to a habitat build. The giving happens around the family, not with it.
Music is different. A four-year-old can shake a tambourine. A teenager can play lead guitar. A dad who played clarinet in high school can pick it up again. A grandmother who always wanted to try ukulele finally has a reason to start.
And when that family walks into a senior home and plays three songs for people who haven't had live music in months — the connection in that room is real. It always will be.
That is what Band Together was built to make happen, in communities across Canada.
The journey
From a first chord to a room full of grateful listeners

Build your sound
Regular rehearsals, real songs, a family ensemble
Your family becomes a band. We guide you through learning your parts, practising together, and growing as musicians — at a pace that works for everyone from the toddler with a tambourine to the teenager on guitar.
Take the stage
Perform for seniors, charities, and community audiences
When your family is ready, you play pro bono for the people who need it most: senior homes, care facilities, community organizations. No audition. No entry fee. Just music and the people it reaches.
Keep growing
Deepen your community roots, season after season
Returning families take on more ambitious repertoire, mentor newer members, and build lasting relationships — with each other and with the communities they serve.
The heart of it
Families who make music together
give something no grant can buy:
the gift of being present.
Every performance Band Together families give is an act of generosity — a Sunday afternoon traded for someone else's joy. That is a real thing. It deserves a real home.
The look on an audience member's face when a family band plays a song they recognize. That is why this exists.

Who this is for
If any of this sounds like your family, you have found your people
Your family wants a shared project that isn't a screen
You are looking for something to do together that involves creativity, effort, and showing up regularly. Something that builds something — not just passes the time. Music gives families a project that grows and that matters.
You played an instrument once and miss it
There is a guitar in the basement. A keyboard that hasn't been touched in years. You remember enjoying it and have always meant to get back to it. Band Together gives you a reason — and an audience that will appreciate every note.
Your kids take lessons but never play for anyone
Lessons are great. But music is for sharing. Band Together gives children a context — a real audience, real gratitude, real stakes — that makes everything they've learned click into place.
You want to volunteer but can't leave the kids at home
Most volunteering is adult-only. Band Together is built for the whole family — including the four-year-old who will absolutely insist on being on stage. Everyone contributes. Everyone gives back. Nobody sits this one out.
